It’s October, the month that the nights start to draw in, the coats and woolly jumpers make a comeback and my favourite season begins. However, before we get to the sunny, ice cold days, there is an awkward time when it’s not that warm or cold and I think most people find it quite hard to decide what to wear this time of year because of the awkward temperature. So, to try and get around this and get in the mood for autumn, I have put together a small look book of some of my between seasons outfits.
This first outfit is one which is super Autumny and very versatile. I wore this cute long sleeved, burnt orange, ribbed top from Forever21 which has a small frill on the high neck which just makes the top that little bit more interesting. I paired this with a skirt (similar) I got from H&M a couple of years back which is now a bit too small for me but the colours in it work so well with the top I managed to squeeze into it! I wore this with black tights as it made the whole outfit warmer but if it was a warmer day or afternoon, you could just take them off. On a colder day it would look great with a scarf and coat over the top. On my feet, I had some khaki green suede ankle boots which I got from River Island last year (similar).
My next outfit is a bit dressier but still quite relaxed and would be perfect for a more formal occasion. Here I’m wearing my current favourite shirt which is actually from Zara kids but I still totally love it! It has the classic blue and white stripes and masculine tailoring but is made more fun and modern with the embroidered stickers. I paired this with these dark green cigarette trousers from River Island (now only available in black)which are very comfortable and flattering however the only downside is that the fabric the tie is made of means that it doesn’t stay tight for very long which means I have to keep tightening it every so often.
The statement piece of the next outfit is this amazing bomber jacket I got on my birthday from an independent shop in Bath called Instant Vintage. I always liked the bomber jacket trend but I never thought it was for me but this one seems to work quite well with my style. The floral pattern makes it a lot more girly and the navy blue background means that it goes with a lot of other things I already have. On that day, I wore it with my grey River Island jeans and this crop top from Bershka which is a lovely dusky pink colour. On my feet I had my light pink H&M pumps which I wear all the time and are now falling apart!
This outfit I think is my favourite of the four because it is so simple and elegant and perfect for the changing seasons. Here, I’m wearing this mushroom, ribbed jumper from H&M which I am loving at the moment because of the three-quarter length sleeves which are great for days when its chilly but not too cold. On my bottom half I’m wearing these denim ripped jeans from Topshop which make the look that little bit more edgy with some cute pink River Island heeled boots (similar). I then finished the look off with this simple rose gold necklace from Accessorise.
So they are four outfits I’ve been wearing quite a lot recently while waiting for the really cold days to kick in and I cannot wait for the big coats and woolly scarves to come out again!
